VIP Dominican Salon was recommended to me by a friend after moving to the area. First I called to make an appointment and I was told that it's a first come, first serve basis. I arrive to find several women waiting to be seen so I take a seat to wait as well. After an hour and a half, I was called to get my hair washed thinking I'll be out within an hour, wishful thinking on my part. They washed my hair and instead of putting me under the dryer to dry my hair, I had to sit on a chair with my hair soaking wet to let it air dry! After an hour, and my the back of my shirt soaking wet, I was called to get my hair blown out and needless to say, I was not impressed. I was quoted one price, then told to pay another which was 45 for a wash and blow dry. The owners excuse was that she uses quality salon products or whatever, she was very unprofessional and has no respect for her customers! I only went once and I go out of my way to go to a better, friendly salon that knows what a Dominican blow out really is!!
I come here for the first time and there are about 4 people waiting so I ask how long is the wait. A woman washing hair says there are 4 people in front of me. I can clearly see that but that does not tell me how long the wait it. There could be 4 people in front of me and 2stylist available to hair. She never looked back up or said anything else. They won't ever get my money
5 years ago they were reasonable....now I wouldnt dare pay their prices for the "low quality service"
I would give zero stars if I could. I went to this salon on and off for years without an issue. A few months ago they did my hair and everything seemed fine until I washed it a week later. My hair had a strong chemical smell and my hair did not curl. I had been natural for 5 years and they put something in my hair to make it straight. I held off leaving a review but it has been a few months and my hair is still straight. I have had tons of breakage and now my hair is extremely thin on the ends. When I confronted the owner she said that my hair was just heat damaged. It was not damaged before my final appointment there. So either they damaged my hair so bad with heat that it went permanently straight or they put relaxer in my hair without my knowledge. Beware of this place. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
I called and asked about pricing. I stated my hair was curly and passed my shoulders.... I was quoted $45 over the phone but was advised it would be best to come in that way she could see my hair and would be able to say for sure on the price. (That's understandable) I went in and took my hair out of my bun... the lady grabbed my hair and pulled it straight then said $55 (I was okay with that) The issue I had is once I was done getting serviced and ready to pay I was informed the price was $60. I was told there was a $5 increase because of my length... I told her I didn't agree with the sudden price increase and if I was quoted one thing then that's what I should be paying. I was then told "it's only $5 more" I don't give a damn if it was $2 more. I value every dollar and as a customer I didn't feel as my money or business was valued. The service wasn't worth $60... It was a simple wash and blowout. I appreciate the young lady who actually did my hair but the lady who handles the actual pricing and charging... (terrible) I will never go back due to her poor customer service.
